Image Description: Donald, an Asian bilateral amputee with a shaved head, dressed in a white shirt with silver fringe, hops on the side rim of his wheelchair, spinning in mid-motion. The performer appears to float horizontally in the air, with intense focus on his face. The “Dance Place 2024 – 2025 Season” logo is in the top left.

Dance Place’s Dance & Disability Residency strives to support the growth and vision of artists who identify as disabled. This collaborative partnership aims to increase Dance Place’s capacity for accessibility practices while creating an environment of research and growth for the artists.
In its second year, Dance Place will support Donald Lee’s series of location-based work, Anti-Spectacular, centering on disability aesthetics. By accessing movements in inaccessible spaces, the artist transforms barriers into a powerful language of movement.
This residency runs from September 30 to October 6, 2024, and will culminate in a public film screening and a site-specific performance/movement installation on Saturday, October 5th at 3:00 PM.
Community members are invited to dialogue with the artist, offering insights into their creative process, research, and experience at Dance Place. Even though the event is free, please RSVP to reserve tickets as your entry pass.
This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
