Contemporary Technique Lab with Brendan Drake | Wednesday, May 20, 2026

What happens when we approach our dancing without trying so hard to “make something happen”? What can we let go of with regard to form, expectation, and movement trends to get to the “realness” in our dancing?  This advanced-level class is geared toward professional and pre-professional dance artists interested in bridging the gap between technical practice and creative inquiry. Both an experimental movement lab and technique class, we will utilize a mix of anatomically mindful exercises, improvisation, contemporary phrase work, and conversation/group strategizing to build stronger dancing bodies and more robust individual performance practices. This class is a space to expand our artistic curiosities (both individual and collective) through the act of dancing together.
