Rosy Simas is looking for five to seven local performers to perform with her company in her new work, Weave, which will be presented at Dance Place April 25th & 26th, 2020.
This audition will be led as workshops open to the public. You are welcome to attend the workshops even if you are not interested in performing. We encourage people who work in all forms of dance to participate. Workshop participation is FREE. Interested artists may, but are not required to, attend both workshops.
First Workshop: Sunday, February 9, 2020 10:00am-12:00pm, Dance Place Theater
Second Workshop: Thursday, February 13, 2020 9:30am-11:00am, Dance Place Theater
If selected, dancers will receive a stipend of $400.00. Dancers must be available to rehearse for up to 20 hours (not including performances) with the company between April 18th and 24th, 2020. A schedule will be set prior to the workshop/audition.
Weave is a dance project drawn from the interwoven and interdependent nature of our world. Individual and embodied stories are the vibrant threads that mesh in a performance woven of story, dance, moving image, and quadraphonic sound.
Tentative rehearsal schedule; dependent upon collaborator availability:
Saturday, February 15 3-6pm *tentative
April 18-24, 2020 up to 20 hours of rehearsal, times to be determined
April 25, 2020 Performance I; 8pm
April 26, 2020 Performance II; 7:00pm
