Family Programming

Dance Place’s Family Programming is specifically designed for families in mind to move together, experience performances, and engage with the community.  Offering both dance classes and performances, Dance Place’s Family Programming provides accessible and inclusive arts experiences for the whole family to enjoy. 

  • INTERGENERATIONAL FAMILY CLASSES 

Intergenerational Family Classes are scheduled quarterly, offering a space where families can move together. Ranging from 45 minutes to an hour, classes are designed to engage youth and adults together in a safe, fun and welcoming space. 

Second Saturdays: Family Fun Class Series

Every Second Saturday 

Location: Edgewood Arts Center

Time: 11:00am-12:30pm

Dance Place’s Second Saturdays: Family Fun Class Series are monthly intergenerational movement classes for both the young and the young at heart. Bring your family, friends and neighbors to come move with us! Class offerings: Zumba, Family Dance, Somatic Flow, and Creative Movement.

Intergenerational Creative Movement with Dominique Moran

Date: December 14

This class invites participants to explore everyday pedestrian movements, using choice-making and improvisation to spark creativity. In a low-pressure environment, you’ll experiment with ordinary actions like walking and reaching, discovering new ways to move, think, and express yourself. Whether new to dance or experienced, you’ll enjoy a supportive space to try new things and connect with your body.

Intergenerational Zumba with Anastasia Johnson

Date: October 12 

Intergenerational Zumba will be a fun and energetic  dance based workout that involves Latin and World rhythms. The workout includes cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility. All ages are welcome!

  • INTERACTIVE FAMILY PERFORMANCES 

Interactive Family Performances are scheduled during both weekdays and weekends at accessible times for families to attend together. The performances are interactive, giving both youth and adults the opportunity to engage in conversations with the artists, a chance to move on stage, and experience the joy of dance together as a family.
