Dance Place Education Open Call

Dance Place is excited to open applications for teaching artists to participate in Dance Place’s Rotation Class in our Adult Class Series.

The Open Call series supports local DMV teaching artists and companies working in the local DMV dance community.   

Dance Place invites teaching artists based in the greater Washington, DC region including Maryland and Virginia to submit an application (Voice Memo or Video Submission is acceptable as well) for a proposed class series to take place in Dance Place’s 2023-2024 Adult Class Series. Following a review of all submitted applications, selected projects will be invited to teach a series during the Rotation Class time slot in the Adult Class Weekly Series on Monday’s 6:30pm-8:00pm. Each class series selected will run for 5-9 weeks, depending on schedules.

Classes are weekly drop-in based and each teaching artist will be paid based on number of students enrolled in each class. See below class pay breakdown. 

3-11 students/class = $65

12-16/class = $85

All applicants, regardless of selection, will receive an email response on their status. All applicants will be informed of the status of their application via an email response from the Education Team.

Dance Place believes that people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, and women must be centered in the work that we do. We strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other systematically marginalized communities. As we move in the spirit of creating accessible live performances, we also invite and encourage makers who are creating works for all ages.
