Dance Place invites dance and movement-based artists at all phases in their careers, of all disciplines/ genres, and with the self-identified home base of the Washington, DC metro area*, to a town hall asking: how can Dance Place be of service to artists in our geographic community, now and post-COVID 19?
We hope to hear directly from artists about the fears, challenges, hopes and desires that have risen from (or been exacerbated by) the pandemic. Your input is vital as we determine how Dance Place will navigate the coming weeks, months and years.
Town halls will be conducted through Zoom, led by Dance Place curatorial staff: Executive Artistic Director Christopher K. Morgan, Director of Production Ben Levine and Associate Curator Sarah Greenbaum.
Artists are invited to attend one of three dates:
- Monday 5/25, 6:30 – 8:00pm
- Wednesday 5/27, 2:00 – 3:30pm
- Sunday 5/31, 4:00 – 5:30pm
Dance Place offers stipends of $25.00 USD to artists for their participation.
To allow for meaningful conversation, space at each town hall is limited. Please RSVP at your earliest convenience by completing the form here. Participation is not guaranteed if all town halls fill to capacity.
Deadline for registration is Wednesday, May 20, 2020, 11:59pm. Registration confirmation will be sent to all registrants by no later than Thursday, May 21, 2020.
If you are interested in participating but not available for any of the dates offered, please know that notes (with all comments anonymized) will be made available following the final town hall.
Feel free to email any questions to sarahg@danceplace.org.
Thank you. We look forward to sharing virtual space with you.
*please note Dance Place will convene subsequent town halls with artists from across the national field who have had recent or pending engagements at Dance Place
