Teacher Training

Dance Place’s Teacher Training offerings are a wide variety of professional development sessions, special workshops and panel discussions. Advancing the dance education field through the work of Dance Place staff and programming, the goal is to share best practices with the community at large. Partnering with professional teaching artists, public and charter school classroom teachers, and college/university students, Dance Place creates a framework for dialogue, sharing and networking.

  • STAFF DEVELOPMENT

On-site professional development sessions for teaching artists. Dance Place hosts occasional teaching training workshops led by both Dance Place’s Education staff and outside professionals in the field. The sessions are open to the general public and also serve as a training base for Dance Place’s teaching faculty.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR SCHOOLS/ORGANIZATIONS

Dance Place Education staff and teaching artists offer schools and organization professional development sessions on how to integrate dance into the classroom. Dance Place often partners with DCPS and DC Charter Schools to lead sessions on teacher professional development work days.

  • COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Dance Place Education staff and teaching artists partner with colleges and universities to create professional development opportunities for students. Opportunities happen both on the Dance Place campus and on the college/university campus and range from special workshops, teaching opportunities for students, and panel discussions.
