Dance Place Open Call: Co-Presentation & Education
Applications close June 19th
Dance Place is excited to bring back our Open Call series. The Open Call series aims to support local DMV artists, teachers, and companies presenting work and/or teaching to our DMV local dance community. A keystone of our curatorial vision is providing support to dancemakers at all stages of their careers and every stage of the creative process.
The Open Call series is one of the methods through which Dance Place can serve as a home for a number of artists and companies that are creating and teaching in the DMV. By providing multiple entry points of support for local artists, Dance Place contributes to a thriving dance ecosystem in the region, country and world.
Heart Stück Bernie: Many Extra Only More
July 8th at 7pm | July 9th at 4pm
Outdoor, Site-Specific Performance
Many Extra Only More is a massive-scale, big-cast, site specific dance project for 40 dancers, framed by 40 windows, in the five-story storefront of Brookland’s Extra Space Storage facility. It is a communal holler, shout, and shake it all about that will fill an openopen glass facade with quirky-luscious, exuberant dance. But it is also the search for joy in liminal spaces. It is a window into bodies of power. It is a gentle unpacking of the things we store away – in industrial storage units, or the chambers of our hearts. And it is a dance-me, dance-you, dance-us repair for our times.
August 11th at 7pm
Come enjoy our 2023 Energizers Creative Arts Camp Show on August 11th at 7:00pm. We are excited to announce that our theme this year is the B.E.T. Awards!
