CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS!
As part of his virtual residency at Dance Place, choreographer Charles O. Anderson (Austin, TX; Charles O. Anderson / dance theatre X) will hold follow-up workshops following the livestream showing of the dance film of (Re)current Unrest — a meditation on the American Dream and Black nihilism.
Anderson is looking expressly for individuals who not only have strong contemporary/modern technique and performance experience but who are also generous of spirit and interested in investing themselves physically and intellectually in the company’s work. Anderson is particularly interested in participants of diverse nationalities, gender expressions and personalities. Participants in this free workshop will develop material that explores the kinesthetic states of agitation, unease, discontent, and social disturbance that inform (Re)current Unrest.
Interested participants will meet Wednesday, December 9 from 7:00-8:30pm EST for a FREE workshop on composition and creative process. Workshop participants may opt into working independently to develop their own digital performance response; those who chose to participate in developing a response may join for a second workshop on Saturday, December 12 from 2:30-4:00pm EST to share what they have created and continue the discussion with Charles.
Some artists’ responses may be selected to be shared on Dance Place’s social media. Participating artists whose work is selected will be compensated $50.00 USD for their work. All artists will maintain ownership of the work they produce.
To register for this free opportunity, please register here by 11pm EST on Tuesday, December 8th.
