Unit Souzou has a special invitation for the Dance Place community to be part of their upcoming Virtual Presentation on May 16th!
For the past three years, Unit Souzou has been creating a show called Constant State of Otherness. Throughout their process, they heard from many communities stories of isolation and displacement that come from a sense of not fitting in. Several words were repeated in their conversations: displacement, loneliness, belonging, home, distancing, isolation. In light of COVID-19, the themes in this work have become even more timely, as social distancing and community division have amplified the fear and loneliness of isolation and othering.
Now, Unit Souzou wants to hear your story! Share with the company how these themes resonate with you through any creative medium: word, movement, sound, visual art, poetry, drawing, collage, film, ceramic, any other creative expression.
Please submit your stories via this Google form. Stories will be accepted on a rolling-basis, but you are encouraged to submit by Friday, May 8th for the possibility to be included in Unit Souzou’s May 16th Dance Place Virtual Presentation.
