Sign up for an audition slot to perform in Dance Place’s annually curated showcase! The New Releases Choreographer Showcase features some of the best new works by established and emerging choreographers in the DC metro area. Performance on Saturday, May 26 at 8pm features 2017 New Releases Commission recipient Tarik O’Meally and special presentation by Director Emerita Deborah Riley.
Auditions:
Thursday, March 1, 6-10pm
Sunday, March 4, 10am-3pm
Requirements to be considered:
- Works must be less than 12 minutes
- Works must be presented in audition as they would be performed (finished works including music and costume)
- Applicants must be dance-makers, and must reside within one the following locations: District of Columbia; Montgomery County and Prince George’s County in Maryland; Fairfax County, Arlington County and the city of Alexandria in Virginia
- A majority (more than half) of dance artists/company dancers performing in the proposed works must reside within one of the locations listed above
- Choreographers and all performers must be available for technical rehearsal on Friday, May 25 and performance on Saturday, May 26
New Releases is programmed by an independent panel made up of select Dance Place staff and members of the DMV dance community. Dance Place staff and interns not directly involved in programming New Releases are eligible to apply.
