In daily life, we miss certain passages of time, arrangements of events, and later become aware that they have passed without notice. Sometimes, this takes the form of regret for things undone or unsaid, or of having been unconscious of our own lives, even as we live them.

Series: Episodes is about coming to the United States in the winter of 1994. The need to remain close to my roots, but also to become secure enough to go beyond my own culture and learn to embrace my new home is conveyed in this piece.

I originally came to Washington, D.C. to study English for a year, but my path dramatically changed when I saw an opportunity to achieve my lifelong dream of becoming a dancer. The environment here was fertile for me to learn and improve my ability. Series: Episodes highlights my technical, physical, and most importantly, my spiritual growth during my years in America.

My time here has enabled me to come full circle and truly understand what it means to be a Korean in America. I am extremely happy and excited to share my memorable life experiences in America through dance.

This engagement is a DC Performing Arts Presenters Initiative project, which is made possible through funding by the DCCAH, MAAF, and the NEA's Regional Touring Program.
